변함없이 신실한 사람들

이번 주 금요일 오전 10시에도 변함없이 말씀을 묵상한 하나님의 사람들이 모인다. 연대기 성경을 읽는 분들, 사순절을 동행하며 묵상하시는 분들, 성경 필사를 하며 하나님의 말씀을 종이와 심비에 새기는 분들이 오신다. 무엇인가를 사랑하고 사모하는 사람들의 마음은 다르다. 눈에 보이지 않아도 느낌이 특별하다. 눈빛도 삶에 대한 자세도 다르다. 하나님이 기뻐하시는 삶을 살고자 하는 마음을 나누면 우리 모두의 마음이 하나가 됨을 느낀다. 목회의 보람은 이런 곳에서 발견된다.

일주일 동안 감기 때문에 앓다가 간만에 나와서 말씀을 사모하는 사람들을 만나니 반갑기도 했고, 오랜만에 갖는 나눔 시간이어서 그런지, 내 안에서 끓고 있던 영적인 갈망이 폭발(?)했다. 보통 <코람데오>는 참석한 분들의 나눔을 듣는 시간이 더 많아야 하는데, 오늘은 내 안에 끓고 있던 진리에 대한 갈망이 쏟아져 나왔다. 다행이 너무 잘 들어주셔서 모두가 우리의 영혼의 잔을 기쁨으로 채우는 시간이 되었다. 늘 이렇게 감사함으로 기쁨으로 들어주시는 분들이 있을 때에 내가 성장함을 느낀다. 역쉬! 링거링 현상

우리의 영혼의 잔이 차고 넘칠 때면 언제나 '링거 현상'이 나타난다. 같은 마음, 같은 뜻, 같은 생각이 공유된 사람들을 만나면 조금 더 이야기하며 함께 머물고 싶어진다. 마침내, '같이 밥 먹어요!' 한마디가 나오자 모두 같은 마음이었다는 듯이 식당을 향했다. 날도 풀리고, 마음도 풀리니 간만에 신나는 '외식타임' 늘 코람데오 가족들을 사랑하며 섬기는 귀한 마음이 있기에 이런 기쁨의 시간을 누림에 늘 감사하며 그 마음을 축복한다!

People of Unwavering Faith

This Friday at 10 a.m., God’s people will gather once again to meditate on His Word. Those reading the Chronological Bible, those reflecting on the Lenten season, and those inscribing God’s Word onto paper and into their hearts through Bible copying will all be present. The hearts of those who love and long for something are different. Even though it is invisible to the eye, the feeling is special. Their gaze and their attitude toward life are distinct. When we share our desire to live lives that please God, I feel our hearts becoming one. The reward of ministry is found in moments like these.

After suffering from a cold all week, it was a joy to finally come out and meet people who long for God’s Word. Perhaps because it had been so long since we last shared, the spiritual longing that had been simmering inside me exploded (?). Usually, at <Coram Deo>, we spend more time listening to the participants’ sharing, but today, the longing for truth that had been simmering within me poured out. Fortunately, everyone listened so attentively that it became a time when we all filled the cups of our souls with joy. I feel myself grow whenever people listen with such gratitude and joy. Indeed! “Teaching or Sharing is the Best Way of Learning”

The Lingering Effect

Whenever our spiritual cups overflow, the “Lingering Effect” always kicks in. When we meet people who share the same heart, purpose, and thoughts, we naturally want to talk a little longer and stay together. Finally, as soon as someone said, “Let’s grab a bite together!” we all headed to a restaurant as if we were all on the same page. With the weather warming up and our hearts opening up, it was a long-awaited, exciting “dining out” time. Because of the precious hearts that always love and serve the Coram Deo family, I am always grateful to enjoy these joyful moments and bless those hearts!

역시, 도미니카공화국에 다녀온 뒤 돌아온 나의 일상은 <코람데오> 모임이다. 한 주간동안 말씀을 묵상하고 각 자의 묵상을 나누며 서로가 서로에게 배우고, 서로가 서로를 격려하고 응원하며, 함께 걸어가는 동반자가 있음으로 힘을 내도록 동행하는 모임이다. 오랫만에 만나지만 언제나 주님과 동행하는 이야기가 나눠진다. 신앙생활과 인생의 희노애락, 봄여름가을겨울, 그리고 업스앤다운스...늘 비슷한 이야기같지만 조금씩 조금씩 하나님께서 일하시는 영역이 늘어나고 있음을 느낀다. 이 시대의 성경기자처럼 하나님의 감동을 받아 하나님께서 주시는 마음을 적어가는 우리들의 삶에 하나님의 흔적이 점점 더 많아져 가기를 소망한다.

Back to My Weekly Routine

And of course, returning to my everyday life after the Dominican Republic means returning to the Coram Deo gathering.

It's a group where we spend the week meditating on the Word, then come together to share our individual reflections — learning from one another, encouraging and cheering each other on, and walking together as companions who give each other strength simply by being present for the journey.

We may not have seen each other in a while, but the conversation always picks up right where it belongs — stories of walking with the Lord. Faith and life, joy and sorrow, spring and summer and fall and winter, ups and downs... The stories may seem similar each time, but little by little, I can feel the territory where God is at work growing wider and wider.

My hope is that the traces of God will grow more and more visible in our lives — lives lived like the biblical writers of this age, moved by the Holy Spirit, writing down the heart that God gives us.

Special Guest: A surprise appearance by Lim So-mi, who is about to head off on a trip to Korea! Even in the middle of a busy schedule preparing for her visit, she came with such a precious heart — wanting to be part of Coram Deo before she left. Her presence was an unexpected comfort and a true blessing. Thank you for staying with us to the very end — wishing you a joyful and wonderful trip! 🙏✈️

말씀없이 살 수 없게 된 사람들
내 목회를 쒼~나게 만드는 사람들

오늘도 교회를 떠나 이 지역에서 가장 좋은 조식이 있는 우리들의 아지트에서 말씀나눔 코람데오모임을 가졌다. 집사님께서 초대할 때면 우리를 VVVIP로 섬겨주신다. 하나님의 가족들을 얼마나 존귀하게 여기는지, 말씀나누는 모임을 얼마나 사모하는지를 느낄 수 있다. 더불어 남편도 이른 아침부터 우리들을 위한 샌드위치를 만들어주셨다고 한다! 와우! 최고의 남편이자 모든 남편의 적임을 재확인한다!!! ㅎㅎㅎ

암튼, 올 해에는 <연대기성경>도 매일 같이 읽고, 어떤 분들은 매주 <필사>하며 하나님의 말씀을 한 자 한 자 노트에 적으며 심비에 새기고, 어떤 분들은 <평신도지도자 과정> 을 듣고, 이제 곧 다음 주일이 지나면 <사순절동행>을 시작한다. 사실, 이제 생각해보니 내가 생각해도 조금 과하다는 생각이 들긴하다 ㅎㅎㅎ

하지만 이 분들의 고백이 더욱 귀하다. "이렇게 말씀에 집착하는 목사님은 처음봐요" ㅎㅎㅎ 어느새 말씀에 집착하는 목사가 되어 있었다. 뭐! 내가 어떤 사람이 되던 난 상관없다. 누군가가 말씀을 사랑하게 된다면, 말씀을 굳게 붙들고 하나님과 동행하며 하나님을 조금이라도 더 알아가게 된다면 더 바랄게 없다!!!

솔직히 제가 생각해도 요즘같으면 쪼~끔 많다는 생각이 들긴해요. 하지만 여러분들의 열정덕분에 저도 같이 쒼나게 목회할 수 있는 것 같아요~ 이제 사순절만 지나면 여유로와 질거에요~ 딱 40일만 같이 달려봐요~ ㅎㅎㅎ 코람데오 화이팅!!!

Today again, we left the church and gathered for our _Coram Deo_ Bible-sharing time at our little hideout—the place with The Best breakfast in this area. Whenever one of the members of Coram Deo invites us, we are treated like **VVVIPs**. You can truly feel how deeply she honors God’s family and how much she longs for gatherings centered on the Word. And on top of that, her husband woke up early to make sandwiches just for us! Wow! Once again confirmed—he is the best husband and clearly the standard by which all husbands will now be measured! 😄

Anyway, this year we’re reading the _Chronological Bible_ every single day. Some are also doing Bible Copying, carefully writing God’s Word letter by letter and engraving it on their hearts. Others are taking the **Lay Leadership Course**, and starting after next Sunday, we’ll begin our **Lenten Journey Together**. Honestly, when I step back and think about it, even I feel like it might be just a _tiny bit_ much 😆

But that’s exactly why their confession means so much to me:
“I’ve never met a pastor who is this obsessed with the Word.” 😂
Somehow, I’ve become _that_ pastor—the one obsessed with Scripture. And you know what? I don’t mind at all what kind of person I become. If someone grows to love the Word, if they hold tightly to Scripture and walk with God, getting to know Him even just a little more, then I have nothing more to ask for.

Honestly, even I admit it feels like a lot these days. But because of _your_ passion, I get to do ministry with joy and excitement alongside you. Once Lent is over, things will slow down a bit. So let’s run together for just 40 days. Just 40 days! 😄

Coram Deo—fighting! 📖

앎과 모름의 차이 오늘 코람데오에서의 나눔은 네 명이 각자의 묵상을 나누는 시간이었지만, 놀랍게도 모두의 이야기는 하나의 지점으로 수렴되었다. 그것은 바로 ‘모름(Not Knowing)’ 이라는 주제였다. 서로 다른 삶의 자리, 서로 다른 말씀의 문맥 속에서 나온 이야기였지만, 우리는 모두 같은 깊이에서 고개를 끄덕이고 있었다. 진정한 앎이란 많이 아는 상태가 아니라, 내가 알고 있는 것이 얼마나 작은 일부인지를 아는 인식이라는 생각이 들었다. 반대로, 스스로를 ‘안다’고 여기는 사람은 종종 자신이 무엇을 모르는지조차 인식하지 못한 상태에 머문다. 그것은 무지라기보다, 무지를 자각하지 못하는 상태에 가깝다. 그래서 ‘모름’은 결핍이 아니라 성숙의 징표다. 깊이 있는 사람일수록 쉽게 단정하지 않고, 빠르게 결론 내리지 않으며, 자신의 이해를 절대화하지 않는다. 그들은 질문을 남겨두는 법을 알고, 설명되지 않는 여백 앞에서 서두르지 않는다. 모름의 상태를 유지하며 살아간다는 것은, 세상을 함부로 단순화하지 않겠다는 태도이기 때문이다. 오늘의 나눔은 다시 한 번 깨닫게 했다. 신앙의 깊이도, 삶의 깊이도 결국은 얼마나 많이 아느냐가 아니라, 얼마나 겸손하게 모름 속에 머물 수 있느냐에 달려 있다는 사실을. The Difference Between Knowing and Not Knowing Today’s Coram Deo gathering was a time when four people shared their individual reflections. Yet surprisingly, all of our stories converged at a single point: the theme of Not Knowing. Though each reflection arose from a different life context and a different scriptural lens, we found ourselves nodding together at the same depth of understanding. True knowing, I realized, is not a matter of knowing much, but of recognizing how small a portion of reality our knowledge actually covers. Conversely, those who believe they “know” often remain unaware of what they do not know. This is less a matter of ignorance and more a state of unrecognized ignorance. For this reason, not knowing is not a deficiency but a mark of maturity. Those with depth do not rush to conclusions, do not cling tightly to certainty, and do not absolutize their own understanding. They know how to leave questions open and how to remain unhurried before unexplained spaces. To live while sustaining a posture of not knowing is, in essence, a commitment to resist oversimplifying the world. Today’s sharing reminded me once again that the depth of faith and the depth of life are not determined by how much we know, but by how humbly we are able to remain within not knowing.
