The First GEM Gathering (3/27/25, Thu, 6pm)

The 1st GEM Gathering (3/27/25, 6pm)

Greenland United Methodist Church NH

Today was a remarkable day of connection and recognition. We held our first pizza party with our English-speaking Greenland family, creating a space to listen, share, and grow together in our multicultural, bilingual church community.

I'm profoundly grateful for the conversations we shared. Hearing the positive feedback about our current ministries was deeply touching. The appreciation for our bilingual worship services, bilingual church bulletins, event materials, and English Bible studies (Coram Deo on Thursday) reminded me of the beautiful unity we're building across language and cultural boundaries.

Although I've had some previous experience with bilingual communities, serving a truly bilingual congregation is a new journey for me. Today felt like a significant milestone. Despite English being my second language—with all the imperfections that come with that—our English-speaking members have been incredibly gracious, encouraging, and thankful.

One truth I'm continually learning in ministry is that the more I serve, the more I myself grow and mature. There's something profoundly humbling about being accepted just as I am—acknowledged for my efforts, encouraged in my imperfections, and appreciated for the unseen moments of hard work and dedication.

I'm especially touched by how our English-speaking congregation sees beyond linguistic challenges. They recognize the heart behind the words, the sincerity of effort, and the genuine desire to create a welcoming, inclusive spiritual home for everyone.

To my dear English-speaking Greenland family: thank you for your patience, your support, and your willingness to journey together. Your encouragement means more than you know.

And yes—I'm already looking forward to our upcoming cultural culinary adventures: "Ramen Day", "Budae-jjigae Day", and "Tteokbokki Day"! These aren't just meal events; they're opportunities to celebrate our diversity and build deeper connections.
