In New England, there are pastors who quietly devote themselves to serving other pastors. Their ministry is not from a pulpit or a classroom, but under the hood of a car. They care for the very vehicles that carry pastors to their ministries, knowing well how costly car maintenance can be in the United States. With decades of hands-on experience in auto repair, they have chosen to use their skills as an offering of service.
Now approaching its third year, this ministry is beginning to bear new fruit. Supporters are emerging, and others are stepping forward to join in the work. Every time I watch these brothers, unafraid to become covered in grease for the sake of others, I am reminded of the true beauty of a servant’s life. Their quiet dedication reveals a glimpse of Christlike service—simple, humble, and yet profoundly powerful.

뉴잉글랜드에는 목회자들을 섬기는 목회자들이 있습니다. 이들의 사역은 강단이나 교실이 아니라 자동차 바디 아래에서 이루어집니다. 목회자들의 발이 되는 차량을 스스로 관리할 수 있도록 섬기는 것입니다. 미국에서 차량 유지비가 만만치 않음을 알기에, 수십 년간의 자동차 수리 경험을 가진 이들은 자신의 기술을 섬김의 도구로 내어놓았습니다.
이 사역이 시작된 지 이제 3년이 되어 가면서 새로운 열매들이 나타나고 있습니다. 후원자들이 세워지고, 함께 섬기기를 원하는 손길들이 하나둘 더해지고 있습니다. 기름때 묻는 것을 두려워하지 않고 묵묵히 헌신하는 이들의 모습을 볼 때마다, 저는 섬김의 삶이 지닌 진정한 아름다움을 다시금 깊이 깨닫게 됩니다. 그들의 조용한 헌신 속에서 단순하면서도 겸손하며, 그러나 무엇보다도 그리스도의 섬김의 도를 느낄 수 있음에 감사하게 됩니다.
