Even though we meet every week, there are new people every week

Every morning, my wife asks the same question: “Where are you going today?”
It’s been almost 20 months now that I’ve been going to the same <Coram Deo> gathering every Friday morning on the same schedule… yet she asks the same question every morning… I wonder why… (If anyone knows, please let me know…)

Anyway, my wife suddenly asks, “Wow… that’s amazing… do you really have something to share every single week?” Come to think of it, meeting every week to share our reflections might seem natural, but when I reconsider that it’s a weekly challenge for me—a continuous confession of unyielding faith, driven by the Word, to live according to it—I realize that gathering and sharing every week is, in a way, quite remarkable. But those of us who gather don’t think about it that way at all; we simply meditate on the Word, write down the heart God gives us, and share it.

My discovery today is that those who come to Coram Deo hold up the mirror of God’s Word to themselves every single day. So, they look at the image reflected in that mirror and honestly share what they discover about their inner selves. It’s not because that image looks impressive or spiritually admirable. It is because they long to see the weak aspects revealed by the Word, the shortcomings that need to be improved through the Word, and the transformation into the image that pleases God.

That is why they are “God’s people who feel fresh and new every week, even though we meet every week.” They know that the people God seeks are those who stand before His Word at every moment, examining and nurturing themselves to make their inner selves beautiful and holy. I am grateful to have companions with whom I can embark on this endless journey. Thanks to them, I too can stand before God day after day. I pray that, through them, the number of God’s family walking together before Him will grow.
