지난 도미니카 공화국에 단기 선교를 다녀온 애론은 칼로스라는 아이와 즐거운 시간을 보내었습니다. 짧은 만남이었지만, 애론의 마음에 칼로스와 함께 했던 시간이 남아 있었나 봅니다. 그래서 결연을 맺고 매달 $50씩 후원하기로 결정했습니다. 선교지에서 맺어진 아름다운 우정이 이렇게 지속적인 사랑의 관계로 발전하게 되었습니다! 사랑의 열매란 바로 이런 것이 아닐까 싶습니다.
단기선교는 가고 오는 것으로 끝나지 않습니다. 마음에 남은 얼굴 하나, 함께 웃었던 순간 하나가 이렇게 삶을 연결하는 관계가 됩니다. 이렇게 이어진 관계는 서로의 삶을 변화시키어 서로의 삶을 성장하게 하고 성숙하게 하여 아름다운 열매들을 맺게 될 줄로 믿습니다.
그린랜드 교회는 한 사람이 한 아이를 후원하는 '아동결연'을 이어가고 있습니다. 다른 땅에 살지만, $50의 나눔을 통해 우리는 함께 걷고 있습니다. 작은 씨앗 같은 아이들의 인생에 물이 되고 거름이 되기를 소망하며 기도합니다.

Aaron, who joined our short-term mission trip to the Dominican Republic, had a wonderful time with a boy named Carlos. It was a brief encounter — but something of that time together stayed in Aaron's heart. And so he made a decision: to sponsor Carlos, giving $50 every month. A beautiful friendship born on the mission field has grown into a lasting relationship of love. If you ask me, this is exactly what the fruit of love looks like.
Short-term missions don't end when the trip does. A face that stays with you, a moment of laughter shared together — these become the threads that connect lives across the miles. We believe that a relationship formed this way will change both of them, helping each one grow and mature, and bearing beautiful fruit in ways we may not yet imagine.
At Greenland UMC, we continue our child sponsorship ministry — one person, one child. Though we live in different lands, we walk together through a monthly gift of $50. We pray that this small but faithful support becomes water and nourishment for the lives of children who are like seeds full of promise.
Missionary Helen, thank you for giving us the privilege of caring for and serving these precious souls. As Carlos grows, and as Aaron grows, we pray and hope that all of us will walk this journey together — growing and maturing side by side. 🙏
