오늘도 아름다운 열매 소식이 있어서 나눕니다.
원미 집사님께서 도미니카공화국에 있는 한 아이를 후원하고 싶다는 메시지를 보내오셨습니다. 그 배경을 들어보니, 연대기성경 통독에 참여하시던 중 사사기 8장 4-9절을 읽으시다가 마음에 강한 메시지가 찾아온 것이었습니다.
이 본문은 기드온과 300명의 용사들이 요단강을 건너 극도로 지치고 굶주린 상태에서도 추격을 멈추지 않는 장면입니다. 기드온은 숙곳과 브누엘 사람들에게 지친 병사들을 위한 떡을 구했지만, 두 곳 모두 냉정하게 거절합니다. 굶주리고 힘든 자들 앞에서 외면을 선택한 사람들의 이야기입니다. 원미 집사님은 이 말씀을 형광펜으로 하일라이트하시며 마음속으로 조용히 자신에게 물으신 것입니다.
"나는 지금 굶주리고 힘든 사람을 외면하고 있지 않은가?"
그런 후 저에게 도미공에 있는 한 아이를 후원하고 싶다고 연락을 주신 것이었습니다. 다시 한 번 살아서 역사하시는 하나님의 말씀의 능력을 경험하는 순간이었습니다. 말씀을 읽고, 형광펜으로 마음에 새기던 중에 삶에서 말씀을 살아내시기로 결단하신 것이었습니다. 말씀 묵상이 삶의 변화로 이어지는 아름답고도 거룩한 순간입니다! 그래서 오늘 오전 코람데오에서 그런 <재미있는 고백>을 나눠 주신 이유를 깨닫게 되었습니다.
"형광펜이 이렇게 중요한지 몰랐어요! ㅎㅎㅎ"
그린랜드에 여전히 살아서 역사하시는 하나님의 말씀의 이야기가 더더욱 풍성하게 나타나기를 소망하며 기도합니다~

I'm so glad to share another beautiful piece of news today.
Deaconess Wonmi Lee reached out with a message saying she wanted to sponsor a child in the Dominican Republic. When I heard the story behind her decision, it was clear that God's Word had spoken powerfully to her heart.
While participating in her Chronological Bible Reading plan, she came across Judges 8:4–9 — and a strong message found its way into her heart. In this passage, Gideon and his 300 warriors have crossed the Jordan River, exhausted and hungry, yet pressing forward without giving up. Gideon asks the people of Succoth and Peniel for bread to sustain his weary men — but both communities coldly refuse. It is a story of people who chose to look away from those who were hungry and struggling right before their eyes.
As she highlighted that passage, Deaconess Lee quietly asked herself:
"Am I turning away from those who are hungry and struggling right now?"
And then she reached out to me, saying she wanted to sponsor a child in the DR. It was a moment of experiencing, once again, the living and active power of God's Word. As she read and marked the passage in her heart, she made the decision to live out that Word in her life. This is the beautiful and sacred moment when Scripture becomes transformation! And this morning at Coram Deo, I finally understood why she had shared that delightful confession with us:
"I never knew a highlighter could be this important! 😄"
We pray that the stories of God's Word — still alive and at work here at Greenland — will continue to multiply and overflow~
