Day 16.
Day 16. The Most Important Thing
I just realized that I've been out of it since Thursday when a cold crept up on me! 😅 As of today (Saturday), my body is feeling a little better. My throat is still rough, but I'm hoping that if I throw everything at it today — medicine, remedies, you name it — I might just be functional by Sunday morning! I'm literally loading up on all kinds of things right now. 😄 To everyone who has been praying for me — thank you from the bottom of my heart. The energy I receive from your care and love is absolutely no joke. I am so, so grateful. 🙏
And as it turns out, the chapter I've been behind on — Chapter 16 — opens with exactly this:
"Life is about love."
Because God is love. Lately, the words of 1 Corinthians 13 have been settling into me more deeply than ever: without love, I am nothing. Being together without love means we are not really together. Doing things side by side without love means we are not really doing them together. A conversation without soul is a conversation without love. When I look back, I am struck by how many things I have done without love at the center.
And if that is true — then according to God's Word, it is possible to do the Lord's work without the Lord Himself present in it. That is a sobering thought.
My prayer is that I would learn to examine my inner life more carefully, more slowly, and more consistently — so that mine would become a life that holds what it is meant to hold. This, I remind myself once again, is the most important thing.
