Lenten Walking Together. Day 15.

Chapter 15 clearly defines both the starting point and the destination of our spiritual growth. It speaks about transitioning from a life like sheep, who neither listen well to the shepherd’s voice nor follow the right path, toward growing into a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, a chosen generation. It challenges us to move from the life of sheep, living aimlessly and without clear direction, toward the life of king, who guide others along the right path.

1 Peter 2:9 – "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."

This is what happens in our spiritual growth: transforming from the life of sheep, uncertain of even the immediate path ahead, into a life not merely focused on our own journey, but committed to teaching, guiding, and even leading others into the truth—a life of king. When our lives are rooted in God’s Word, receiving daily spiritual nourishment, these transformations occur naturally. In reality, it is not we who reign as kings; rather, we surrender sovereignty over our lives to Jesus, the Word of God, allowing Him to rule as King.

Isaiah 53:6 – "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all."

Romans 5:17 – "For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!"

My hope is that we may daily meditate upon God’s Word, remain under its rule, and continue growing spiritually, walking together on this journey from the life of sheep toward the life of kings.
