Perseverance – A Mark of Mature Spirituality
Perseverance is difficult. But anything that is difficult is often deeply valuable. That’s why I don't describe something as “hard”—instead, I say it’s “unfamiliar.” With enough investment of time, effort, and energy, even the most challenging things can become familiar. And when they become familiar, they no longer feel difficult.
As James 1:4 says,
“Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
When perseverance completes its work in us, the gaps in our lives begin to disappear. We become more whole, more complete, and more like Jesus. As we grow to resemble Christ, we are able to love more deeply, serve more faithfully, and lead others toward Him. In this way, we move closer to the greatest hope of every Christian: to become like Jesus.
Therefore, perseverance is a secret ingredient in spiritual growth and maturity—a pathway to becoming more like Christ. If you desire to be like Jesus, persevere! Then you will find yourself doing what He did, living out His mission, and fulfilling God's dreams through your life. Hallelujah!
<Today's Prayer>
Heavenly Father,
Today, please pour into me the strength and wisdom to persevere once more, that I may become more like Jesus.
In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
<인내> 는 어렵다. 그러나 어려운 것은 언제나 가치가 있다. 그래서 나는 어렵다고 느끼는 것은 "어렵다"고 말하지 않고 "익숙하지 않은 것" 이라고 표현한다. 무엇이든 시간과 물질과 에너지를 투자하면 익숙해지기 마련이고, 익숙해지면 "어렵지 않기" 때문이다.
야고보서 1장 4절 말씀대로 "인내를 이루면 부족한 부분이 없어진다." 그러면 더욱 온전하여 지면 더욱 더 예수님을 닮아가 더 많은 사람들을 사랑할 수 있고, 섬길 수 있고, 더 나아가 주님께로 인도할 수 있는 삶을 살아가게 된다. 모든 그리스도인의 소망인 예수 그리스도를 닮아가게 되는 것이다.
그러므로 <인내>는 하나님의 사람으로서 성장하고 성숙하여 예수 그리스도를 닮아가게 하는 비법이다. 예수 그리스도를 닮고 싶다면 "안내하라!" 그러면 이 땅에서 예수 그리스도를 통하여 하신 일들을 감당하게 될 것이고, 하나님의 꿈을 이루어드리는 삶을 살게 될 것이다. 할렐루야!

하나님 아버지, 오늘도 예수님을 닮기 위해 한 번 더 인내할 수 있는 힘과 지혜를 부어주옵소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도드립니다. 아멘.
