🍁 Autumn Journey Letter #07 – “The Mystery of Meditation”
Dear beloved Fall Journey family,
A brand new day has begun once again. As we begin this Tuesday, my prayer is that today would be a day where we draw a little bit closer to God—step by step.
🌱 The Heart of a Farmer
Living a life of faith is much like the life of a farmer. The farmer sows the seeds, waters the ground, fertilizes the soil, pulls out the weeds, and cares for the plants through every season—helping them through the warmth of spring, the heat of summer, the cool breeze of fall, and even the harsh cold and snow of winter. And when the farmer faithfully walks with the field through all four seasons, the leaves bloom, flowers blossom, and the fruits are finally harvested.
“He also said, ‘This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.’”(Mark 4:26–29)
🌤 The Four Seasons of Faith
Our spiritual lives also go through seasons—spring, summer, fall, and winter. There are gentle spring-like days, intense summer-like seasons, refreshing autumn breezes, and yes, even the cold, still silence of winter. As we learn to walk through all these spiritual seasons, we are trained in patience and endurance, we grow deeper in love and care, and we are humbled to trust in God more deeply, meditating on the mystery of Christ’s incarnation.
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”(Galatians 6:7–9)
🤝 Co-Workers with God
As we follow the hand of God, the true farmer of the gospel, we begin to understand the precious value of one single fruit. We learn the heart of the Farmer, we begin to see with His eyes, and live as His hands and feet—bearing the fruit that He longs to produce in and through us.
Even during these 40 days of the Fall Journey, you may find yourself experiencing all four seasons. But through them, may you gain a deeper spiritual maturity that allows you to embrace every season of life with grace and wisdom.
“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.”(1 Corinthians 3:6–9)
“Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.”(Psalm 126:5–6)
As you continue your walk today, may you enter deeper into the mystery of walking with God—through seasons, in silence, with tears, and in joy.I pray that your time of meditation would become a sacred rhythm of grace in your life.
With love,
Rev. Gil Lee
