Lenten Journey Meditation #06 "Foundation: The Deeper, The Taller"
Theme - [Foundation: The Deeper, The Taller]
- The key to maintaining and deepening our spiritual life—our relationship with God—is to lay deep roots.
- Just as a building needs a strong and deep foundation to stand tall, our faith must be built on a firm foundation.
- The foundation of our spiritual life is Jesus Christ, the Word.
- The deeper our understanding of the Word, the stronger our spirituality becomes, and the higher we can build God’s temple where the Holy Spirit dwells.
Scripture - [1 Corinthians 3:10-11]
"10 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ."
Before - [Not Spending Enough Time]
- At times, I find myself not investing enough time in meditating on the Word due to my busy pastoral schedule.
- Some days, I can grasp a message from God without spending much time, but I realize that this can become an excuse.
- Just as we cannot truly know someone’s heart without spending quality time with them,
we cannot deepen our relationship with Jesus without dedicating meaningful time to Him. - The same applies to relationships with family and others—if we only focus on tasks, there is no time for heart-to-heart communication.
After - [Spending Deep, Meaningful Time]
- Rather than just checking off a daily checklist, I will devote sufficient time to experience the depth of the Word.
- I will make an effort to have meaningful, deep conversations when I meet someone.
- I will give time for their hearts to touch mine and for my heart to be immersed in God’s Word.
- Both relationships with God and people grow deeper when we spend intentional time together.
Action - [4 AM - 6 AM: Immersing Myself in the Word]
- I will dedicate the early hours of my day to being immersed in God's Word.
- This will not just be a routine, but a time of deep communion with the Lord.
Prayer
_"Lord, I want to be soaked in Your Word.
Help me not to meditate on Scripture out of routine or habit,
but to go deeper in understanding,
so that I may reach and connect with the depths of others’ hearts.
Grant me this grace.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen."

- Theme - [기초: 높이는 깊이와 비례한다" "Foundation: The Deeper, The Taller"]
- 영성생활, 즉 하나님과의 관계를 잘 유지하고 깊게 하는 비결은 뿌리를 깊게 내리는 것이다. 집을 지을 때에 기초공사를 깊게해야 높은 건물을 지을 수 있듯이, 기초를 견고하게 할 수록 높은 건물을 지을 수 있다.
- 영성생활의 기초는 무엇인가? 바로 말씀되신 예수 그리스도이시다. 말씀을 깊게 이해하면 할 수록 우리의 영성은 깊어질 뿐만 아니라 성령이 거하시는 하나님의 성전을 높이 지을 수 있는 것이다.
- Scripture - [고린도전서 3:10-11]
- 10 내게 주신 하나님의 은혜를 따라 내가 지혜로운 건축자와 같이 터를 닦아 두매 다른 이가 그 위에 세우나 그러나 각각 어떻게 그 위에 세울까를 조심할지니라
- 11 이 닦아 둔 것 외에 능히 다른 터를 닦아 둘 자가 없으니 이 터는 곧 예수 그리스도라
- Before - [충분한 시간을 보내지 않음]
- 매일 말씀을 묵상하다보면 때로는 오랜 시간을 투자하지 않아도 그날 그날의 메세지를 발견하는 날들이 있다. 목회의 일정이어도 바쁘다는 핑계로 충분한 시간을 보내지 않을 때가 있음을 발견한다. 어떤 사람과 시간을 보내도 충분하게 시간을 보내지 않으면 그 사람의 마음을 깊게 볼 수도 느낄 수도 없다. 가족들과의 시간도 그렇다. 해야할 일들만 처리하면 마음을 소통할 시간은 없다. 하물며 예수님과의 시간은 말 할 필요도 없다.
- After - [깊이있는 시간]
- 매일 매일의 Checklist의 checkbox를 체크하는 것이 아니라, 충분한 시간을 배분하자. 말씀의 깊은 맛을 느낄 수 있도록 충분한 시간을 갖자. 한 사람을 만나도 깊이있는 시간을 갖자. 그 사람의 마음이 내 마음을 적실 수 있도록 충분한 시간을 갖자.
- Action - [4am-6am 말씀에 나를 적시는 시간으로 만들자]
- Prayer
- 하나님, 하나님의 말씀으로 내 영혼을 흠뻑 적시고 싶습니다. 형식적이고 습관적으로 말씀을 묵상하지 말고, 말씀의 깊이를 더욱 깊게 하여 더 많은 사람들의 심령의 깊은 곳과 소통할 수 있도록 은혜를 베풀어주옵소서. 예수님의 이름으로 기도드립니다. 아멘.
