π Walking Together in Autumn #01
βWhy I Choose to Meditate on Godβs Wordβ
Dear Greenland Family,
Can you believe there are only three months left in 2025? Time flies so fast!Yet Iβm so thankful that we get to spend this last season of the year walking together through βWalking Together in Autumn.β My hope is that we will take this time to look deeper, think deeper, and discover the meaning and value God has planted in our daily lives.
This week, Iβll begin the first reflection, but in the coming weeks, I look forward to sharing your meditations as well. May our reflections help us see more of who God is and how He works in our lives. As we hear the stories of His workβHis Storyβin one anotherβs lives, may our inner selves be filled with His love, grace, and joy.
Today, I want to share why I personally try never to miss a day of Scripture meditation. There could be many reasons why one meditates on the Word of God: because we are Godβs children, because we are Christians, because His Word is important. But for me, the deepest reason is thisβso that I wonβt live a wandering life.
Proverbs 29:18 says:
βWhere there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is the one who heeds wisdomβs instruction.β
There was a time when I thought being a pastor automatically meant living a holy life. But I soon realized that even pastors can live carelessly when they stop meditating on Godβs Word. I found myself living as though I were the master of my own lifeβmaking decisions based on my feelings and doing what pleased me rather than what pleased God.Even ministry can turn into mere work if itβs not rooted in the Wordβsomething we do for God, rather than with God.
When I meditate on Scripture, I notice that my thoughts begin to shift.I start asking more often, βWhat does God desire?β instead of βWhat do I want?βI start searching for what pleases Him.In that process, I experience the Word leading me.Just as 2 Corinthians 5:17 says:
βTherefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!β
When we meditate on Scripture, the living WordβJesus Himselfβenters into us.Each time, we are made new.Of course, weβre still βunder construction,β but little by little, day by day, transformation happens. Thatβs why I cannot give up meditating on the Wordβit keeps shaping and renewing me.
My hope and prayer for all Greenlanders is that Scripture meditation will become a part of your daily rhythmβa joy, not a dutyβso that, step by step, we may all be transformed into the kind of people who bring delight to God.
πΏ Reflection Questions
- How important is Godβs Word to you personally?
- What practices help you let Godβs Word sink into your daily life?
- What are your hopes for Walking Together in Autumn 2025?
π How to Participate
- Read each daily Walking Together in Autumn Letter and record your thoughts and reflections in your own spiritual journal.
- You may send your reflections or journal entries to me via email or through the link below. We hope to compile them later into a Greenlanders Reflection Book. π Reflection Link
- Selected reflections will be shared anonymously in future Autumn Letters or during Sunday Worship so that more people can be blessed. During the 8-week journey, each person is encouraged to send 2β3 reflections.
- You can also post your reflections as comments on the Greenland Church website so that others may be encouraged as well. π Walking Together Page
