2026 Dominican Republic Vision Trip

2026 Greenlanders Vision Trip

– Dominican Republic –

<Short-Term Mission vs. Vision Trip>

There are two main types of mission trips that churches take. First is a short-term mission trip. A short-term mission is a trip in which a team partners with a local missionary for a limited time to assist with specific ministry projects.

Second is a vision trip. A vision trip focuses on learning rather than doing. It is a journey to visit a mission field, listen to missionaries’ stories, and gain a deeper understanding of the ministry context. Instead of engaging in direct work, participants come to observe, listen, and understand God’s work in that place.

<Purpose of Mission Trips>

Both trips share the same purpose. First, they allow us to personally witness and learn from the work being done on the mission field. Through the missionaries, we discover ways we can participate in and support God’s mission.

It is also a time set apart wholly for God — a period to pause, reflect, and seek what “mission” truly means to Him. During this time, we rediscover our own missional identity and reflect on how to live as God’s witnesses in our everyday lives.

<2026 Greenlanders Vision Trip>

This year’s Vision Trip will take place in the Dominican Republic. We will visit the Haitian refugee ministries led by Missionary Helen. Participants will have the opportunity to see and learn from ongoing mission work firsthand.

What we do may be simple, but it carries deep meaning. We will share small gifts and express the love of Christ through warm interactions. We will meet new friends, exchange greetings, and begin building relationships that matter.

Unlike short-term missions, this trip requires less preparation. However, bringing a small gift to share during the first meeting will make the experience even more meaningful.
