Children of undocumented Haitian immigrants—shut out from formal education—are the very reason Santiago School exists.
Santiago School is an elementary school dedicated to serving children of undocumented Haitian migrants who have no access to public education. At its peak, over 100 children filled these classrooms with laughter and learning. But in recent years, widespread deportation policies have torn many of these children away from the only home they have ever known—some returned to Haiti alongside their parents, others sent back on their own.
Every empty seat left behind is a child we miss. Most of these children were born in the Dominican Republic. Haiti is a foreign country to them—unfamiliar language, unfamiliar surroundings, no childhood friends. Yet they are being asked to start over in a land they have never truly known.
Some children have found their way back to us. Many have not. Some families have chosen to leave their children in the care of relatives in Haiti. Wherever these children are now—in our classrooms or in a distant village—we pray that God's love and protection will hold each one of them.
Santiago School remains open for those who are still here. This is more than a school. It is a place where children, forgotten by the world, hear the words: "You are loved."
🙏 Please pray for Santiago School and for every precious child in our care.
