In Camu, Dominican Republic, there is a local Dominican church — one that I have had the joy of beginning to partner with in ministry this year.
The moment I walked through its doors, I knew this was a special place. The church itself is beautifully established, and the Sunday School teachers come in faithfully every Saturday to serve the children — with love, commitment, and a deep sense of responsibility. That spirit of dedication was evident everywhere.
You might wonder: why partner with a church that already seems so strong? The answer lies in who is in the pews. Many Haitian believers and their children are part of this congregation. Beyond that, the surrounding community is also home to a significant number of Venezuelan families, who are becoming part of this growing community of faith.
But what moved me most deeply was a conversation I had with the pastor and members of this church. They said something I will never forget:
"Many Dominicans are living undocumented in the United States or other countries. How is that any different from Haitians living here among us?"
Those words went straight to my heart. This church grieves when they see Haitian neighbors deported. They ache when they see families living in hiding. That empathy — that willingness to see themselves in the other — is not something that comes from human reasoning. It comes from God.
The vision we shared together is clear: to embrace not only Haitian neighbors but Venezuelan neighbors too — everyone living in the margins of this community — and to do so not with human strategy, but with the love God Himself has placed in our hearts.
I don't yet know exactly how God will use this partnership. But I know this much: this meeting was no accident. God brought us together, and He has given us faithful co-workers so that we would not have to walk this road alone.
🙏 Please pray that our partnership with Cabura Church would flourish under God's guidance — becoming a beacon of His love for Haitian and Venezuelan neighbors in the community.
