Dominican Republic Vision Trip – Walking Together Devotional #13

(D-2 / February 21, 2026 / Saturday)

Two more days. We're almost there.

We've heard there may be snow early Monday morning, so let's pray together that the early morning drive and flight will go smoothly and safely. Even in rough weather, I hope we discover the grace of finding God right in the middle of it — the One who goes with us through every kind of storm.

Tomorrow (2/22, Sunday) marks the very first day our Dominican Republic Mission Team works together as one — one heart, one purpose, in rhythm with each other. Mission work certainly happens on the field, but just like anything meaningful, there is much to do before the main event. Many of you have already been thinking about the children in the Dominican Republic — wondering what gifts to bring, driving out to shop, packing boxes, taking photos and sharing them with the team. Tomorrow we'll come together to pack the final bags, weigh the luggage, label our church's bags, and do one last check before we go.

We'll also be sorting and packaging the dessert orders from Yuri Dessert into individual envelopes for each person, and if there are extras, we'll sell them on the spot.

But here's what matters most: not just what we do tomorrow, but how we do it — together. As we work side by side, we will inevitably notice our differences. Different ways of doing things, different strengths, different blind spots. And that's okay. It's in those moments — when we choose to understand rather than criticize, and quietly step in to help rather than point out what's lacking — that our teamwork is truly forged.

I believe the most important part of mission is a teamwork built on honoring one another. Rather than calling out what bothers us, I hope tomorrow feels like the quiet beauty of a Manito — that unseen hand that gently covers another person's weakness without a word.

[1 Corinthians 12:21–25, NIV]
21 The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you!"
22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty,
24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it,
25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other.
