Autumn Journey – Day 4.

🍁 Autumn Walk Letter #04 – “God’s Letter”

Hello, dear Autumn Walk family,

Have you ever received a letter every day from someone? From now on, I’ll be sending you an Autumn Walk Letter five times a week.Although I’ve shared 40 days of personal reflections before, this is my first time writing them in the form of letters. It feels a little unfamiliar, but at the same time, there’s a special joy in starting each day thinking about you—it almost feels like writing love letters. 😊

If any of these letters move your heart, maybe you could write one too—to me, or even to God. 💌

“You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”(2 Corinthians 3:2–3)

💞 A Personal Hope for Autumn Walk 2025: From Religious Habit to Spiritual Practice

Personally, I hope that during this Autumn Walk 2025, the practice of Scripture meditation will not feel like a religious duty or something too distant and sacred—“too holy to come near.”Rather, I hope it becomes as natural and familiar as eating our daily bread.

After all, God’s Word itself is a letter—written with His own heart and breath. (2 Timothy 3:16–17)My prayer is that through these Autumn Walk Letters, our relationship with each other, and with God, will grow deeper and more intimate over these 40 days.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”(2 Timothy 3:16–17)

📖 Let the Bible Read You: From Reading the Word to Being Read by the Word

One of the best ways to engage with Scripture is not only to read it with your eyes but to let it read you—perhaps even by listening to it aloud. To let “the Bible read me” means discovering my inner self within the stories and emotions of the people in the Bible—sometimes in the heart of Jesus, sometimes in Peter’s struggles, and sometimes in Thomas’s doubts that feel so much like my own.

“Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”(Psalm 139:23–24)

When that moment comes, we are invited to ask:“How did Jesus see that heart? What would He say to it?”And when we ask such questions, we begin to see how God sees us—what kind of heart He desires for us to have. That is when we start to know Him more deeply, and His heart slowly fills our own.

This is what it means to grow in relationship,to mature in faith—when God’s heart and ours draw closer together.

“When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?’‘Yes, Lord,’ he said, ‘you know that I love you.’Jesus said, ‘Feed my lambs.’ ...The third time he said to him, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, but he said, ‘Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.’Jesus said, ‘Feed my sheep.’”(John 21:15–17)

“Come near to God and He will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn, and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”(James 4:8–10)

🍂 Dear Autumn Walk family,

The Word of God is not just a book—it is a letter from God, written to you today. And every time we open that letter, we take one step closer to Him.

As we enter this new week,I pray that while you open the Bible and read, the Word will also read you—revealing your inner self, your spiritual self, and filling your heart quietly, bit by bit, with the gentle flow of God’s heart.

May His love and presence seep into your soul “sinaruro”—little by little, almost without noticing.

With you on this autumn journey,

Rev. Gil Lee

🌾 Today’s Reflection Questions

  1. Has there been a time when God’s Word came to you like a personal letter?
  2. What part of yourself have you discovered through the Scriptures?
  3. What do you sense is God’s heart toward that part of you?
