Day 6.
Day 6 — Life Is Temporary
"Show me, Lord, my life's end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is." — Psalm 39:4
Knowing how brief our time on this earth truly is — this is one of the greatest gifts we can receive. When we understand that life is short, we begin to treasure it. We give ourselves more fully to each moment, and we find ourselves living with greater intention and meaning. Each day becomes precious. Each person becomes irreplaceable. Even a single encounter takes on new weight — because we never know what impact that one moment may have on our lives, or what unforgettable memory it may leave in the life of another.
There are many ways to describe the identity of a Christian, but the metaphor that keeps me anchored to my calling is this: I am a citizen of the Kingdom of God, living on this earth as one sent on assignment. Every time I rediscover why God has sent me here, life comes alive with purpose and joy.
Our lives are all temporary — and yet it is through these brief, fleeting encounters and quiet moments of awakening that I experience more and more deeply the providence of God at work through me. My hope is to go on tasting and living the life of God's Kingdom — vast, deep, and wide — one passing moment at a time.
