Day 8. 우리는 하나님의 기쁨을 위해 계획되었다.
이 백성은 내가 나를 위하여 지었나니 나를 찬송하게 하려 함이니라 - [이사야 43:21]
저는 선교사로 지내고, 선교학을 공부하고, 선교적인 교회를 꿈꾸며 살아오는 동안 하나님께서 우리를 창조하신 목적은 '선교'라고 생각해왔습니다. 그러다가 이사야 43:21 말씀을 접한 뒤로 '선교의 궁극적인 목적'은 복음을 받아들인 한 사람 한 사람이 '온전한 예배자' '하나님께서 찾으시는 예배자'로 살아가도록 돕는 것임을 깨닫게 되었습니다.
성경번역선교회는 모든 민족의 언어로 성경을 번역하는 것이 목표입니다. 하지만 성경번역은 성경이 없는 사람들이 성경을 읽을 수 있는 환경을 만들어 주어 신앙생활을 시작할 수 있도록 해주는 단계입니다. 우리의 궁극적인 목적은 성경을 읽고, 묵상하고, 삶에 적용하여 그 말씀을 신실하게 살아내기까지 섬겨야 하는 것입니다. 그것이 선교이자, 선교의 궁극적인 목적은 '예배자가 되기까지 섬기는 것'이 되어야 함을 깨닫게 된 것입니다.
오늘도 말씀과 함께 하나님과 함께 동행하는 하나님의 신실한 여러분들이 온전한 예배자의 삶을 향해 멈추지 않고 전진하실 수 있기를 소망하며 기도합니다~

Day 8. We Were Planned for God's Pleasure.
"The people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise." — Isaiah 43:21
Throughout my years as a missionary — studying missiology and dreaming of a missional church — I had long believed that the purpose for which God created us was mission. But after encountering Isaiah 43:21, I came to understand that the ultimate purpose of mission is to help each person who receives the gospel become a true worshiper — the kind of worshiper God is seeking.
Bible translation organizations work toward the goal of translating Scripture into every language of every people group. But Bible translation is ultimately just one step — it creates the conditions for people to read God's Word and begin a life of faith. Our deeper calling is to walk with people all the way through: to see them reading, meditating on, applying, and faithfully living out that Word in their lives. That is mission. And the ultimate purpose of mission, I have come to believe, must be to serve people until they become worshipers.
My hope and prayer today is that each of you — faithfully walking with God and with His Word — would press forward without stopping, moving ever closer toward a life of true and whole-hearted worship.
