Day 22. 그리스도를 닮도록 창조되었다.
태초부터 우리는 하나님의 형상대로 빚어진 사람들이다. 그런데 죄성으로 인하여 하나님의 형상을 잃어버리고 하나님과의 관계가 깨진 것이다. 이 깨어진 관계를 회복시키고 잃어버린 하나님의 형상을 회복시키고 하나님의 통치를 받아 하나님 나라의 백성으로서의 정체성을 회복시키기 위해 예수님께서 이 땅에 오신 것이다. 그래서 우리는 예수님을 닮아감으로 하나님과의 관계회복과 하나님의 형상회복의 여정을 걸어가게 되는 것이다.
저자가 말하는대로 "그리스도를 닮는다는 것은 성격을 바꾸는 것이 아니라 성품이 변하는 것이다" 나는 '성품'은 '마음씀씀이'라고 생각한다. 다른 사람에 대한 마음을 쓰는 방식이 달라지는 것이라고 본다. 사람에 대한 마음씀씀이가 달라지면 사람과의 관계가 달라지기 때문이다. 하나님께서 한 사람 한 사람을 바라보시는 것처럼, 예수님께서 한 사람 한 사람을 바라보며 대하는 태도가 다르셨던 것처럼, 하나님의 눈으로 바라보고, 하나님의 마음으로 느끼고, 하나님의 손과 발이 되어 한 사람 한 사람을 소중히 여기기 시작할 때에 우리의 삶에서는 성령의 열매가 맺어지는 것이다.
이렇게 우리는 이렇게 그리스도를 닮아가며 하나님의 형상을 회복해 가는 것이다.
The Third Purpose — We Were Created to Become Like Christ
Day 22. Created to Become Like Christ
From the very beginning, we were formed in the image of God. But through sin, that image was lost — and with it, our relationship with God was broken. It is precisely to restore that broken relationship, to recover the lost image of God, and to renew our identity as citizens of His Kingdom under His reign, that Jesus came to this earth. And so our journey of becoming like Christ is, at its heart, the journey of recovering both our relationship with God and the image of God within us.
As the author puts it, "becoming like Christ is not about changing your personality — it is about the transformation of your character." I think of character as the way we carry our heart toward others — the way we extend care and attention to the people around us. When that changes, our relationships change with it.
When we begin to see each person the way God sees them — when we feel for them with God's heart, when we become His hands and feet and treat every single soul as precious — that is when the fruit of the Spirit begins to appear in our lives. Not as something we manufacture, but as something that grows naturally from the inside out.
This is how we become like Christ. This is how the image of God is restored in us — one person, one encounter, one act of genuine care at a time.
