🍁 Autumn Journey #21 — People Who Have Experienced God’s Love
When I woke up this morning, the first thing that came to mind was yesterday’s Sunday message. I remembered the moment I said, “There is a noble love among the Greenland family.” The look on your faces came back to me—neither denying nor fully agreeing, just quietly listening. And that moment felt so precious and beautiful. Just as pure-hearted people are often unaware of their own purity, you seemed unaware of the gentle, genuine love that already lives within you. Even that unawareness was deeply touching and beautiful.
“Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” — Ephesians 5:1–2
Perhaps some of you, when you heard that message, thought of your weaknesses or selfish moments—and hesitated to respond. But what I was speaking of was the part of your soul that has already been softened and soaked by God’s love, grace, and mercy. When you think of God, and when your heart is refined and made holy by His presence—that is what I meant. We live in a world that has grown so calloused that even thinking about God doesn’t stir the heart anymore.
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.” — 1 John 4:7–9
All of us have selfish moments and a sinful nature that wants to live apart from God’s Word. But what truly matters is whether, when we hear God’s Word, our hearts become humble, pure, and reverent toward Him. It is about whether our spiritual sensitivity—the ability to recognize and respond to the Father’s unconditional, sacrificial love shown through Jesus—remains alive. And it’s about whether we still long to receive, to respond to, and to share that same love with others.
“This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” — 1 John 4:10–12
My prayer and hope are that everyone at Greenland will become more and more sensitive each day to the love of our heavenly Father—that you will live in the gentle rhythm of grace where His love makes your days brighter and your heart lighter. May that divine love bring countless small, happy moments into your everyday life.
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” — 1 Corinthians 13:4–8
