π Autumn Journey #40 Coram Deo
Noah: A Man Who Found Favor in the Eyes of the Lord
Before Genesis 6:8, Scripture describes a heartbreaking reality. God saw that βevery inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time,β and He regretted that He had made mankind on the earth. The grief was so deep that God said He would wipe mankind from the face of the earth. And thenβ
βBut Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.β (Genesis 6:8)
What a shocking contrast.
God, who once looked at His creation and declared it βvery good,β now looked and saw violence, corruption, and hearts set on evil. How distressed must He have been to say He would sweep everything away? Yet, even in that dark world, God had already placed a promise in His heartβ
He would never again destroy all living creatures by a flood (Gen. 9:11).
A Man Unmoved by His Environment
What is astonishing is that in a generation where every heart had turned away, there stood one manβNoahβwho walked uprightly before God.
While the world ate, drank, married, and lived only for themselves, Noah lived differently. He preached righteousness (2 Pet. 2:5). He lived with reverence. He obeyed God faithfully, even when no one around him understood or believed (1 Pet. 3:20).
βHe did not spare the ancient world, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousnessβ¦.β β 2 Peter 2:5
ββ¦only eight people were saved through water.β β 1 Peter 3:20
Godβs Definitive Word About Noah
The decisive moment comes in Genesis 7:1. God says to Noah:
βI have seen that you alone are righteous before Me in this generation.β
This one sentence explains everything. God saw Noah. God was pleased with Noah. God found in Noah something that matched His heart. This is far beyond human evaluationβit is God Himself testifying about a man.
Living Coram Deo (Before the Face of God)
As I revisit Noahβs story, I am reminded again: What matters most is the life lived before God, not before people. A life not swayed by culture, trends, or the spiritual climate around us. A life that keeps its eyes on the Righteous OneβJesus Christβand walks in holiness and obedience.
My prayer for every member of our Greenland family is this:
May we never forget the One who called us and sent us. May we live according to His word and His purposes. And may God say of usβjust as He said of Davidβ that we are people βafter His own heart.β (Acts 13:22)
βI have found David son of Jesse, a man after My own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.β β Acts 13:22
Thank You for Walking Through <Autumn Journey 2025>
To everyone who joined the 40-day Autumn Journey, thank you from the bottom of my heart. My hope and prayer is that this journey helped you: β’ know God a little more, β’ draw a little closer to Him, β’ and walk with Him a little deeper.
Until the next journeyβ Let us continue walking with Him and for Him.
See you in the next season of βWalking Together.β π
