God's Way of Working
Jesus said, "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves, take up their cross and follow me" (Mark 8:34). True self-denial can only come from someone who clearly recognizes who they are. Without a clear identity, one cannot truly deny oneself.
Jesus, though knowing He was God, "did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness" - this is genuine self-denial. Appearing in human form, humbling Himself and becoming obedient to death - even death on a cross - this is the true model of self-denial.
"Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!" - Philippians 2:6-8
When one denies oneself, God "exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Here, God's way of working and the way His people should live becomes clear:
- Know clearly who you are - understand your identity
- Deny yourself willingly
- Through those who deny themselves and honor Christ
- God causes every knee to bow and every tongue to confess Jesus Christ as Lord, bringing glory to God the Father
May we all understand and internalize God's way of working, so that we might live to bring even one soul to bow before Jesus' name and confess Him as Lord, bringing glory to God the Father.
<하나님께서 일하시는 방식>
[마가복음 8:34] 무리와 제자들을 불러 이르시되 누구든지 나를 따라오려거든 자기를 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 따를 것이니라
예수님은 누구든지 나를 따라오려거든 "자기를 부인하고 자기 십자가를 지고" 따르라고 말씀하셨다. <자기부인>이라는 것은 자신이 누구인지를 분명하게 인식하고 있는 사람이 자신을 부인할 수 있다. 자신이 누구인지에 대한 정체성이 분명하지 않으면 부인할 수 없다.
예수님께서 자신이 하나님이신 줄 아심에도 불구하고 "하나님과 동듬됨을 여기지 아니하시고 자기를 비워 종의 형체를 가지사 사람들과 되신 것"이 진정한 <자기부인>이다. 사람의 모양으로 나타나사 자기를 낮추시고 죽기까지 복종하신 것이 <자기부인>의 참 모델이다.
[빌립보서 2:6-8]
6 그는 근본 하나님의 본체시나 하나님과 동등됨을 취할 것으로 여기지 아니하시고
7 오히려 자기를 비워 종의 형체를 가지사 사람들과 같이 되셨고
8 사람의 모양으로 나타나사 자기를 낮추시고 죽기까지 복종하셨으니 곧 십자가에 죽으심이라
자신을 스스로 부인할 때에 하나님께서 "그를 지극히 높여 모든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름을 주사 하늘에 있는 자들과 땅에 있는 자들로 모든 무릎을 예수의 이름에 꿇게 하시고 모든 입으로 예수 그리스도를 주라 시인하여 하나님 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하신 것이다."
[빌립보서 2:9-11]
9 이러므로 하나님이 그를 지극히 높여 모든 이름 위에 뛰어난 이름을 주사
10 하늘에 있는 자들과 땅에 있는 자들과 땅 아래에 있는 자들로 모든 무릎을 예수의 이름에 꿇게 하시고
11 모든 입으로 예수 그리스도를 주라 시인하여 하나님 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하셨느니라
여기서 하나님의 사람들이 사는 방식과 하나님께서 일하시는 방식이 명확하게 드러난다. (1) 자신이 누구인지 정체성을 분명하게 알고 (2) 자신을 스스로 부인할 때에 (3) 하나님께서 자기를 부인하고 그리스도를 존귀히 나태내는 자들을 통하여 (4) 모든 무릎을 예수의 이름에 꿇게 하시고 모든 입으로 예수 그리스도를 주라 시인하여 하나님 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하시는 것이다.
하나님께서 일하시는 방식을 분명히 알고 체득하여 우리 모두가 한 영혼이라도 예수의 이름에 꿇어 그 입으로 예수를 그리스도를 주라 시인하여 하나님 아버지께 영광을 돌리며 살아갈 수 있기를 소망하며 기도한다.
