๐Ÿ Autumn Journey #30 New Shoes

Special Fridays!!!

Today is Fridayโ€”the day that closes our week. An unexpected gift during this Autumn Journey has been this: Fridays have become special. A few weeks ago, something changed. On two separate Fridays, the Autumn Journey email did not go outโ€”one time due to an honest mistake, and another time intentionally, because the Friday Dawn Letter already carried a similar message.

Each time the email didnโ€™t arrive, one person sent me an email saying, โ€œPastor, I did not receive todayโ€™s Autumn Journey letter. Could you please send it again?โ€ย

And then, on the week I intentionally skipped the letter, that person replied, โ€œPastor, thank you for your kind note. But the message was already written on your heart by God. I simply asked that it be delivered to me in digital form.โ€ย

Last week I received another message: โ€œPastor, my week is not incomplete until I hear your five days of uplifting messages.โ€ - (What wonderful, encouraging, and warm words!!!)ย

Those words lifted my spirit in such a tender way. And now that this is the fourth Friday weโ€™ve had this little rhythm, I naturally think of that person again. Iโ€™m already wondering: What message will he send today? ๐Ÿ˜Š

The Story of New Shoes

Thereโ€™s something unforgettable about the first day I wear a pair of new shoes. Blisters form on the back of my heel, but I keep walking anyway. When the blister breaks, I patch it with a bandage and continue moving. After several daysโ€”without even noticing when it happensโ€”the new shoes begin to fit my feet. I can even run without pain.

And suddenly, the shoes start looking beautiful again, just as they did in the store. I feel good in them. I even start choosing outfits that match them. Only then do the shoes feel like they truly belong to me.

Iโ€™ve realized that my life often works the same way. Whenever I step into new rhythms and disciplines, they feel awkward, inconvenient, or exhausting at first. But when I keep walkingโ€”despite the discomfortโ€”those rhythms slowly become part of who I am.

Now weโ€™re just 10 days away from finishing our Autumn Journey. Next week, we begin counting backwards. Some of you might even miss these daily letters. ๐Ÿ˜„ But I wonโ€™t continue them, because the purpose of this journey has always been simple and clear: I wanted to help our Greenlanders walk with God, with Scripture, and with joy.

Just as John the Baptist prepared the way for Christ (John 1:23),

just as a father lets go of the bicycle so his child can ride alone,

just as Paul trained Timothy to teach faithful people (2 Tim 2:2),

just as Jesus washed His disciplesโ€™ feet and said, โ€œDo as I have done for you,โ€ (John 13:14-15)

and just as He commanded us to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20) โ€”

these 40 days have been my way of helping you learn to walk with God on your own feet.

John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.'" (John 1:23, NIV)

And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others. (2 Timothy 2:2, NIV)

Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. (John 13:14-15, NIV)

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." (Matthew 28:19-20, NIV)

The Last 10 Days

My hope is that the remaining ten days will become an even richer journey. Next week and the week after, Iโ€™ll be travelingโ€”serving as a speaker at Cheong-KO (KOSTA Young Adult Conference) in Toronto, and the following week at the 2030 Conference in Chicago.

But the Autumn Journey will continue as usual. And on Sundays, Iโ€™ll be right here with our Greenland family to worship. Please come with expectation and longing for Godโ€™s presence.

This letter has become long againโ€”my apologies. But for those who stayed with me โ€œuntil the end,โ€ thank you. Truly. May today be filled with joy as you walk with Scripture, and walk with God. Shalom.

Before you goโ€”would you listen to one song today? Itโ€™s called โ€œHaru (One Day)โ€ by HisWill. Since the song is in Korean, Iโ€™m sharing only the English lyrics below. Have a Terrific Day in Christ!!!ย

๐ŸŽต One Day (English Lyric Version)

Verse 1ย

Youโ€™ve given me another day,ย
A gift I didnโ€™t earn.ย
Familiar yet so new again,ย
Another chance to learn.

With a quiet stirring in my heart,ย
I take my step to start.ย
Wondering what this day will bring,ย
What grace will fill my part.

Pre-Chorusย
It may be just an ordinary day,ย
Or a surprise day where dreams find their way.

Chorusย
But every step I takeย
On the path of love You pave,ย
Turns into joy for me,ย
A story that You gave.

Verse 2ย
Looking back I see how farย
Your faithful hand has led.ย
I may not know where this road goes,ย
Or whatโ€™s a mile ahead.

Yet walking here beside my Lord,ย
I trust the road You choose.ย
And at the end of this long way,ย
I know I will not lose.

Final Chorusย
For every step I takeย
On this road with You today,ย
Will blossom joy in meย
And guide my heart Your way.

Walking with You here,ย
I feel Your mercy stayโ€”ย
And when this journey ends,ย
I know Iโ€™ll smile that day.
